The Off Season
Well it's January 12th (Cyndi Wish's Birthday) and I am thinking about the off season, here in Provincetown. This is a time when people can S L O W down and do the things that they want to do all year but can't get to, because Summer is so busy. I haven't been able to take advantage of that S L O W-ness as of yet. But VERY close. I have been able to carve out time to make art and that part is good.
Partly of it is my own fault. Got a new puppy while I could have been laying around relaxing. The other part is plotting out next summer (for work) which is always a bunch and somewhat exhilarating. Planning new workshops, events, readings. Keeping it fresh and exciting and as soon as that goes to designer and then printer Off Season can begin. I'm looking forward to it! AND champagn will get poured.
Most people live in a place that is year-round. The community doesn't go from 60,000 to 4,000 in the winter. Most people don't know what it's like to drive to work 9 miles and not see one car coming or going in either direction. Or to go from many choices of restaurants to 4 restaurants open. A grocery store that sometimes has that same head of lettuce starring up at you day after day, week after week.
Though it is a really wonderful thing. The light on the beach, the empty giant sand box, the crisp sky, the starry skies, the ease of getting a parking spot, the quiet! Speaking of quiet, the Library across the street is FINISHED with Construction! This has been a 10 year project! Loud, beeps, front loaders, ladders, you name it, it went up and down, it banged, it beeped, it started at 7:30 am. No more!
And I think it came out great!

Not sure the off season is for everyone. Some people don't like the quiet and the ease of parking. People like the less clothing and very fit tan bodies, drag queens and every breed of dog.
Which I'm not against, mind you.
This would be a few photos of not the off season but the ON - Season! Something for everyone?
I think so....
Here is my office of dogs, Harpo, Lily & Waffles, all is going well! So far!
EnJOYing the blog. Like the part about the drive and not seeing a car in either direction, only the same head of lettuce. Look'n forward to next post.
