Summer Is Here
Well July 4th is over and the warm sun has just broken out. I am happy to say that I am tired and happy it's summer. My days are full of working with interesting artists from all over. My nights are full of visitors and friends (sometimes old friends) who want to get together who are only here for a week or a few days.
That is summer on Cape Cod. I think this summer will be even more busy than usual, as my associate director just quit. The 40th Anniversary is here. A capital campaign is quietly underway. Classes are happening. Auction is less than a month away, actually a month from today.
I want to be making art. I am too tired by the time I get home from work. I had a dream the other night that I dormer-ed out my upstairs and my studio got gigantic. Damn wouldn't that have been nice.
So this week a friend of mine came over to visit that I was best friends with in Elementary - through high school. We played music together. We walked to school together. It was great to spend some time with her. She and her partner of 15 years had a week at Harbor Hill in Ptown. Great to catch up.
Then the next morning I got in my car and the radio was playing a piece that we played together as a duo. Me on the Oboe and her on Piano. It was kind of wild as I hadn't heard this piece of music in many years (maybe 20!) and to be perfectly honest I had forgotten it until it came on and I remembered every bar. Oboe Concerto in D minor by Allessandro Marcello. I just down loaded in on itunes.
I did want to run and clean up my oboe. It's sadly not in great shape. Probably my ambusher (muscles in my face) isn't so good either after all these years.
